Our Mission
We are dedicated to rescuing animals, educating the public, and promoting responsible ownership, with the ultimate goal of building a society rooted in compassion and kindness—one where all loving companions are free from harmful stereotypes and senseless breed discrimination.
We believe that every dog is an individual and deserves a chance at life and we are committed to saving dogs from open intake shelters that are forced to euthanize for space. Our focus is on the breeds that are portrayed negatively in the media and our communities, and are affected by laws of breed discrimination – Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, German Shepherds, Mastiffs, and many more. We believe in the importance of educating the public about responsible ownership, dispelling the myths surrounding these breeds, and protecting innocent lives.

About Caitlyn, Founder
Caitlyn adopted her first pit bull, Cleatus, in 2007, and he would later become the face of Response-a-Bull Rescue’s logo. It didn’t take long for her to experience the deep-rooted prejudice these dogs face. From family and friends to the very shelters and rescues where she volunteered, Cleatus was met with fear and judgment simply because of his breed.
Motivated by his gentle spirit and the injustice she witnessed firsthand, Caitlyn founded Response-a-Bull Rescue in February 2011. She made a promise that day—to challenge the harmful stereotypes surrounding pit bulls and to do everything in her power to protect and uplift misunderstood dogs like Cleatus.
Over time, Response-a-Bull evolved into Rescue for the Misunderstood, as Caitlyn’s mission grew beyond pit bulls to include all breeds who are too often judged by appearance or reputation. From Rottweilers and Dobermans to German Shepherds, Mastiffs, and more, the rescue’s purpose remains the same: to give every misunderstood dog the chance to be seen for who they truly are, and to find the loving home they deserve.
