We are dedicated to rescuing animals, educating the public, and promoting responsible ownership, with the ultimate goal of building a society rooted in compassion and kindness—one where all loving companions are free from harmful stereotypes and senseless breed discrimination.

Rescue for the Misunderstood is America's only non-profit rescue organization that is exclusively dedicated to the misunderstood breeds. We believe that every dog is an individual and deserves a chance at life and we are committed to saving dogs from open intake shelters that are forced to euthanize for space. Our focus is on the breeds that are portrayed negatively in the media and our communities, and are affected by laws of breed discrimination  – Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, German Shepherds, Mastiffs, and many more. We believe in the importance of educating the public about responsible ownership, dispelling the myths surrounding these breeds, and protecting innocent lives.
